The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) invites you to the second edition of the KNMA Legacy Series, featuring Murad Ali Khan: Narrative, Music, and the Enduring Tradition of the Sarangi. This captivating event will be held on January 31, 2025, at the Triveni Kala Sangam Chamber Theatre in Delhi.
The evening promises an extraordinary journey through the world of Indian classical music, led by Murad Ali Khan, one of the most prominent sarangi artists of his generation. As a sixth-generation musician from the Moradabad Gharana, his lineage dates back to the 18th century, symbolizing a legacy that has withstood the test of time.
Murad Ali Khan’s musical journey was shaped by his father, Ustad Ghulam Sabir Khan, and his grandfather, Ustad Siddique Ahmad Khan, both revered sarangi masters. He also received invaluable guidance from Padmashri Shubha Mudgal and the late Ustad Rashid Khan. His dedication to the preservation and growth of the sarangi tradition is evident, as he devotes his time to mentoring the next generation of musicians.
In this performance, Murad Ali Khan will be joined by his disciples from the Saurang Parampara Ensemble and will engage in a riveting dialogue with Aneesh Pradhan, a renowned tabla virtuoso, musicologist, and writer.
