In today’s digital age, art is a healer that comforts the soul, body and mind. Keeping in rhythm with this holistic approach, Art Culture Festival brought together a feast of studio pottery through Delhi Studio Potters’ Market, a one-stop destination for all pottery and ceramic lovers on 2nd September, 2017 at D-49, Defence Colony, New Delhi. The day-long event buzzed with energy and enthusiasm with visitors and buyers thronging the space. They thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the varied display of unique ceramic collection ranging from home-décor, jewellery, arty decorative items to art installations amongst others.
The ceramic pop-up exhibition cum sale was curated by Rekha Bajpe Aggarwal, founder of Studio Re4caly and trustee of Delhi Blue Pottery Trust. Ten talented ceramic artists Jayati Mehta, Studio Six, Uma Sawhny, Sujata Bahal, Sona Srivastava, Divya Topa, Anumita Jain, Anju Kalsi and Meena Vohra came under one roof. Along with the potters, few emerging visual artists also participated in ‘Art Arena’ – an outdoor space for art works.

Rekha shared her excitement on the success of the event, “It was a golden opportunity for ceramic lovers to buy work directly from the creators, at their own prices. People came and sampled the beautiful ceramic ware. ”
“Let’s say that creating ceramics is an art and a science and takes a lot of hard work and creativity. There is no better way of understanding the creative aspect of this practice than by directly meeting urban studio potters who make these beautiful, usable pieces of art by hand, from scratch,” she added.
There was an eclectic mix of ceramic artists at the event, ranging from youngsters in their 20’s to an enthusiastic octogenarian, all of them experts in their own special oeuvres. “The collection displayed was made from different clay bodies that were fired with multiple techniques. The variety was enough to suit everyone’s taste and pocket,” concluded Rekha.
