Looking Back to Move Forward is the official 2018 message of the International Dance Council, CID, UNESCO, Paris. Confucius said: Study the past if you would define the future. Manasa-Art Without Frontiers was founded by Sharon Lowen, Kamalini Dutt and Naresh Kapuria to facilitate the intersections between visual and performing arts, both traditional and contemporary. This 5 day festival looks back to the 6 Videshi Kalakar Utsavs and Art Without Frontiers Seminars held at the India International Centre in the 1990’s.
The festival participants include Kathak Maestro Pt. Briju Maharaj, celebrated Kuchipudi Gurus Padma Bhushan Raja & Radha Reddy, Founder Director of DD Archives Guru Kamalini Dutt, Seraikella Chhau Padma Shri Gopal Dubey, arts scholars/writers Sunil Kothari, Arshiya Sethi, Manjari Sinha, Sharon Lowen, dancers Rama Vaidyanathan, Guru Justin McCarthy, Brigitte Chataignier and other disciples of senior gurus, sitarist Shubhendra Rao, Founder Director of Sahapedia Dr. Sudha Gopalakrishnan, SPIC MACAY VP Rupi Mahendroo, DG ICCR Riva Ganguly Das and former DG Amarendra Khatua, Paulami Guha of IRCEN, visual artist Chavi Asrani amongst others.
